Places with an expectation of privacy
Do not place or use a camera in a bathroom, changing area, guest sleeping space, or another location where a person reasonably expects privacy. Never use a camera for stalking, harassment, voyeurism, discrimination, unlawful surveillance, or any other invasion of privacy.
Audio recording
Federal and state laws may require consent from one participant or from every participant before recording a conversation. Rules may also depend on whether a conversation is reasonably considered private. If you are not certain that audio recording is lawful, disable audio recording and obtain advice appropriate to your location and intended use.
Homes, workplaces, rentals, and care settings
Ownership of a device does not automatically give you authority to record occupants, visitors, employees, contractors, tenants, customers, caregivers, patients, or children. Workplace monitoring, rental-property monitoring, caregiving, and recording involving minors can be subject to additional notice, consent, labor, housing, healthcare, or safeguarding requirements.
Outdoor and trail-camera use
Install outdoor or trail cameras only on property where you have permission. Do not aim a camera into private neighboring areas or use it to monitor people on property you do not control. Follow applicable hunting, wildlife, public-land, and local placement rules.
Account and recording security
Review the privacy terms of the third-party app used by your model. Control who can access live view, cloud storage, local recordings, and shared accounts. Back up recordings you lawfully need, securely erase devices and removable storage before transfer or disposal, and do not send passwords or unrelated private recordings to customer support.
Your responsibility
This page provides general responsible-use guidance and is not legal advice. Laws change and may differ by state, city, property type, and recording method. You are responsible for determining whether your planned use is lawful and for obtaining any required consent. If you are unsure, consult a qualified attorney or the relevant local authority before recording.
